Vibrant Hawaiʻi Resilience Hubs

We are excited to highlight our partnership with Vibrant Hawaiʻi and to be a part of the Vibrant Hawaiʻi network of Resilience Hubs, an island-wide network of over 40 community leaders!

Vibrant Hawaiʻi is a growing community that commits to individual and collective ʻauamo kuleana to increase equitable opportunities to build wealth: a reservoir of human, social, cultural, and financial abundance that we contribute to and draw upon.

Vibrant Hawaiʻi Resilience Hubs are physical spaces that adapt to the changing needs of the community and activate in times of disaster to support emergency response and recovery efforts.

Through our partnership, Vibrant Hawaiʻi has provided us with funding for a commercial dehydrator and vacuum sealer for the Hilo Food Hub, which increases the disaster preparedness of our community specifically as it relates to food security.

In addition, we are also partnering with Vibrant Hawaiʻi to build out two mobile refrigeration trailers, which can be used during times of disaster to transport, store and distribute fresh produce and perishable foods to areas in need.

By implementing a networked approach to building islandwide resilience, neighboring communities build relationships, share resources, and are able to respond to one another’s needs. Let’s continue to work towards a more resilient Hawaiʻi.
