AgVet Spotlight: Kyle Iwamoto

Mahalo for visiting Hoʻōla Farms!

AgVet Spotlight: Kyle Iwamoto

AgVet Spotlight: Kyle

Hoʻōla Farms was founded to create a space where Veterans can learn, connect, and heal through meaningful agricultural experiences. This month, we proudly celebrate one of our AgVets, Kyle Iwamoto, who recently started his agribusiness!

Kyle is a military Veteran who served in the Navy on a submarine out of Guam. We met Kyle last year when he took our Groundwork to Grow: Art of Beekeeping course where participants receive hands-on experience and a comprehensive introduction to beekeeping. This course was in collaboration with Susan of Bird and Bee Hawai’i

Working on a farm and with bees as a kid inspired Kyle to return to beekeeping. One year after taking a beekeeping course, Kyle has doubled his initial number of hives and launched his business, Hilo Hunneh, where he sells local honey at markets on Hawai’i Island.

Congratulations Kyle! Shop Hilo Hunneh 6oz jars with a wooden dipper made from locally sourced wood on our online farmers market, Hawai’i Farm-to-Car

Interested in our programs? Hoʻōla Farms provides opportunities for military Veterans and their families, along with the community, to come together and work towards a positive goal for all—growing healthy food! We do this by providing a safe, welcoming environment where we combine everyday gardening and farm work with education, fellowship, and fun. See our programs here.
