Module 7: Marketing and Distribution
Product and production plans will be reviewed for class examples, and marketing and distribution is discussed. Big Island Made founder Cody Chapin joins us for an in-depth discussion on customers and target-markets.
Business Model concepts:
- Product
- Customer
- Distribution
- Revenue Stream
- Value-Proposition
Creating a value-added product is only valuable if you are able to capture that value, either by consuming the product yourself, or more likely selling it. You can only sell the product if someone is willing to buy the product. And the value is only worth it if your price is high enough to give you a reasonable profit.
Marketing is the entire process of getting your product to the people. This includes logo and branding, advertising, pricing, and sales. Remember Distribution from the Business Model, it is how you make your product available to the customer. Each place your customer can buy your product is a distribution channel.
- Example: Girl Scout Cookies
- Logo and Branding
- Advertising
- Pricing
- Sales
