We’re thrilled to officially welcome Megan Brady as the new Manager of Hilo Food Hub, a program of Ho‘ōla Farms dedicated to supporting small food businesses across Hawai‘i Island through access to a commercial kitchen, storage, and business services.
Megan brings a blend of entrepreneurial experience, community focus, and food systems knowledge to this role. As the Founder and CEO of Uproot Origin, a Hilo-based wellness company specializing in concentrated turmeric elixirs and honey pastes, Megan has firsthand experience navigating the journey from startup to scale.
She launched Uproot Origin in 2022 after creating a health-focused recipe for herself and her ‘ohana. What started in her home kitchen has evolved into a mission-driven brand that prioritizes community wellness, sustainable sourcing, and the use of organic Hawai‘i-grown produce and honey. With support from the CBED Loan Program, Megan secured funding to automate production and expand distribution to the continental U.S.—growing her impact while staying grounded in local values.
Now, in her new role at Hilo Food Hub, Megan is excited to support other food entrepreneurs on their own journeys. She draws on her deep knowledge of licensing, compliance, product development, and scaling to help emerging businesses overcome common barriers and build for long-term success.
Most recently, Megan represented both Hilo Food Hub and Uproot Origin at the 2025 Hawai‘i Made Conference, joining more than 200 local entrepreneurs, retailers, and public officials in strengthening Hawai‘i’s product economy.
We are so excited to have Megan’s leadership, insight, and heart driving this next chapter for Hilo Food Hub. Her work is already creating ripple effects, and we can’t wait to see the continued impact she will have on our local food system.
