[HILO, HAWAII, October 23, 2024] Emily Emmons, Executive Director of Hoʻōla Farms, has been nationally recognized by Military Entrepreneur Magazine for her leadership in empowering Veterans and military families through innovative agricultural programs. Originally focused on Veterans, Hoʻōla Farms now supports the broader community by promoting sustainable farming, entrepreneurship, and personal development. Under Emmons’ leadership, Hoʻōla has become a model for agricultural innovation and community empowerment in Hawaiʻi and beyond.
Emmons’ strategic vision has fostered partnerships with Veteran organizations, government agencies, and local institutions to create inclusive, impactful programs that address economic stability, mental health, and food security. Notable initiatives include “Intro to Grow,” a one-day farming experience, “Groundwork to Grow,” a four-week entrepreneurial workshop, and “Hawaiʻi Farm-to-Car,” an online platform supporting over 130 local farmers. Emmons also launched the “Hilo Food Hub,” and “Victory Gardens for Veterans,” promoting self-sufficiency and wellness for military families.
